Twyla Exner

Adaptations in Orbit is a series of watercolour and ink drawings inspired by satellites and other forms of space technology. In these works, mechanical structures are reimagined as hybrid forms that sprout, shift, and merge with elements drawn from nature. Influenced by plants, fungi, coral, and sea creatures, these drawings imagine space infrastructure taking on qualities of growth and mutation.

The series continues my interest in the overlap between technology and nature. Rather than presenting satellites as fixed tools of communication or surveillance, these works picture them as strange evolving bodies shaped by both invention and imagination.
